We got kicked out from the apartment at 7:30 am. It was my
fault. Our train was at 8:50am but me being me, I told the manager to come at
7am so she can check the place and give us the deposit ( 400 Euros) back. I was worried she might be late. She showed
up early, got us all checked out ( literally). Google translator always comes to rescue. I
talked to her through the translator and broken Spanish. We assume and tell
ourselves “every one speaks or understands English”, we are so ego centric ;)
Anyways, the bus station was few blocks away, we dragged our
luggage through the empty/sleepy streets, the bus was on time ( little chaos
happened because we did not have exact change and he did not have change,
everyone else seemed to have some bus pass. We managed to get the fare
together) and got to the train station an hour early…I think people are getting
little irritated by my paranoia about getting late, but it is better this way,
I think. We checked out very fancy MacDonald. MacDonald and Starbucks seem to
be very trendy places to be in everywhere else except USA.
The train was on time waiting. I just love it more and more
every day. I was able to stretch my legs all the way with more room to spare.
We walked all 12 cabooses back a forth for fun (a baby was doing the same thing
except she was crawling) checked out the dining car, took a nap, watched a
movie (the head phone actually worked and sound was clear) and saw the olive orchards, Solar farms and
mountains zoom by at 301 km/hour. I have never traveled on land this fast. It
was very smooth and comfortable. As much as we love these trains, all of us
were missing the hustle and bustle of
Indian train stations, specially the food vendors at stations J
We are in Taragona, a beach resort full of British and
German tourists ( Sun deprived). Looks like everyone speaks English ( British) Had
a wonderful lunch at a place served by a
young Pakistani kid, who also helped the two silicon valley engineers with
their smart phone wi fi. When we were
looking for the bus stand, an old English lady held Vinaya’s hand and just took
us there. I think, we will be ok here. I am not sure where the rumors of pick
pockets come from ( ok, I am just kidding…we just got robbed on the second day
in Europe ;(
The so called resort is nothing to write about. (the lesson
is to check the reviews and star ratings) but is comfortable and we will make
it work. Pool looks beautiful and it is entertaining to see three old men
sailing their remote control boats in it. Our room overlooks the pool.
That is it for today, we have a long day planning tomorrow,
will write about it later..good night.
Don totally fascinated by the high tech garbage system.
Very fancy Macdonald at the train station
Five Amigos in high speed train
Solar farms along the way
Old man with his "sail boat"
