This morning was travel day and quite and adventurous one. The bus and the airport etc were are good, the flight was on time. The adventure started when I left my camera on the plane It was very nice of the group as well as the workers in Spain that the camera was recovered.
Morning breakfast..
Leaving Lisbon
Plaza De Mayor, Madrid
View from our Balcony
Driving into Madrid from Lisbon is a shock. It looked drab, concrete and flat. No hills, no river, no winding streets and no cobble stones. It is just any other big city. But, getting close to destination, things changes, The city center Plaza De Sol, and Plaza Mayor and the streets leading into them are beautify, narrow and old but not quite same as Lisbon. Oh well, every place has it's own beauty.
Coming to the apartment was no brainer. The apartment is located ON the Plaza Mayor amazing location and just a magical place to be. The manager was waiting and the apartment is in old historic building, it is spacious and old but is well furnished. Two bedrooms are large , third one is a converted closet ( almost and some of us are getting quite upset) We will try to rotate so The everyone gets to sleep in the closet :)
So, Mario, our dear friend comes into picture because non of us ( six engineers) could not figure out how to open the building door. We tried calling the manager and he thought we were dumb americans and just making up issues. So, MARIO came to rescue :) Thanks to G chat, i explained the situation , he called them and few hours later life got beautiful again. Funny thing is nothing much changed but just a polite response from the manager and him showing us how clumsy the key is ( but there is nothing they can do at this point ...) We know how to operate the key and life is beautiful, Thanks to our long distance help.
The day is gone. Plaza Mayor is lively at midnight and our place just overlooks it. It is fun just sitting in the window and watch.
Good night from MAdrid, tomorrow will send more fun stuff.
Lessons learned :
1) Do not leave your camera in the bathroom or in the plane.
2) There is no such thing a three luxury bedrooms in Europe. They are two big bedrooms and one kid room.
3) Before the manager hands over the keys, make sure you can operate everything, specially the keys, air conditioning system and bathrooms.
4) And most of all have Mario as your friend :)
